TRACC is offering an internationally recognised marine science advanced (“A”) level from Cambridge Examination Board as a way to gain a useful qualification during a gap year or a volunteer programme.  (shorter alternatives are the 6 day courses) The advanced level Marine Science Course is for :–
Mature students who want to learn more or switch career paths:
for students who want to study Marine Biology or Environmental Science at university
or students who want to follow a career in shipping, fisheries, tourism or aquaculture.

UPDATE for course from Sept to Dec 2013.  (course starts 19th Sept 2013)

The Advanced level Marine science course is taught by TRACC as a 12 week residential course and starts 1st Feb – May  2014  (CIE June Exams)
The course includes dive instruction to PADI advanced diver, Marine science lessons and practicals, Exam fee, travel & transport during course, all food, drink & accommodation. (see what’s included for complete list)

This is exactly the same course as all the other “A” levels done by UK and International schools and colleges around the world.   This is an internationally recognised course with an international examinations board and can be used as part of the entry requirement into any University.  In many cases the course can be used as academic credit towards the university or college programme. The exam is done at the same time as all other Cambridge exams worldwide during the last weeks of the course.

This is a intensive practical course studying many ecosystems: open oceans, coastal processes, sandy & muddy shores, coral reefs, Mangroves & seagrass beds.  We use microscopes, scuba diving, plankton nets, fishing techniques, sand sieves and lots more. Our biodiversity is second to none and we have many interesting ecosystems nearby.

Course costs for Cambridge “A” level in Marine Science

Standard 12 week stay = £3360

A level course & exam fee = £425
This includes books, materials, lessons, field trips, etc.  The exam will be held in Kota Kinabalu during the last week of the course.
The exam can also be taken at many CIE exam centres worldwide.

Short marine biology courses

We also have 6 day intensive courses on Marine Science the schedule can be found –>here<– .  The courses are also arranged as and when required.  Mostly for dive clubs and larger groups, four persons is the minimum for us to run the course at a time to suit you.
