coconut crab on Pom Pom Island

The Coconut crab is very rare in Sabah, it is endangered throughout its range. They grow large and have few natural predators except man.  Unfortunately they taste like lobster and are easy to catch so they have disappeared from most islands close to people.  There used to be a population on Sipadan and there are a few on Mataking and Pom Pom islands.
